MANILA, Philippines: Hot and humid with high chances of scattered rain showers may be expected in the country this Saturday as the easterlies become the dominant weather system, according to the state-run weather agency.
In its 4 a.m. bulletin, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said that the northeast monsoon or amihan--which brings colder winds in most parts of Luzon--officially ended yesterday.
Forecast said most parts of the country may experience fair weather conditions within the next 24 hours, but with chances of rains and thunderstorms, especially in the afternoon or at night, due to the easterlies.
According to Pagasa, the easterlies are the warm winds coming from the Pacific Ocean that bring warm and humid weather, causing isolated rain showers and thunderstorms.
Based on its three-day weather outlook, the major cities in Luzon, including Metro Manila, Baguio City, and Legazpi City may experience high chances of rains and thunderstorms starting Tuesday.
However, improving weather conditions may be expected in the cities of Metro Cebu, Iloilo and Tacloban by Tuesday.
