Bulacan road mishap: Two dead

A HEAD-ON collision between a car and a motorcycle resulted in the death of two people and injury to two others, including a 10-year-old boy, along Manila North Road (MacArthur Highway) in Barangay Borol 1st, Balagtas, Bulacan on Sunday morning, March 17.

The police identified the victims as Ronald Arevalo, resident of 728 Vicente Nieto St., Barangay Sto. Tomas, Sta. Maria, Bulacan, and his backrider Christian Caluag, 32, resident of Bilucao 1st, Barangay Balasing, Sta. Maria, Bulacan.

The driver of the car, Willard Kent Silverio, 28, and his son, Louie Dane, 10, suffered injuries. The two are residents of Barangay Borol 1st.

The incident happened at 12:10 a.m. when a Kymco VISA motorcycle with plate number 2647 SM, collided with a sedan that occupied the opposite lane of the MacArthur Highway.

The car also hit a sidewalk vendor before overturning and bursting into flames.

The father and son were immediately pulled out of the burning car by sidewalk vendors who witnessed the incident. The two motorcycle riders were quickly rushed to the Bulacan Medical City but were declared dead on arrival.

The police are determining if the car driver fell asleep or was drunk.
