ALUMNI provides inspiration and serves as good role models for the new generation of students.
This was stressed by Carleen Sedilla, Department of Education schools division superintendent, as she congratulated the 10 "Most Outstanding Alumni" of the E. Rodriguez Jr. High School (ERJHS) during its 72nd Foundation Day and Grand Alumni Homecoming last February 23-25.
Sedilla also lauded both the ERJHS family, led by principal Gina Obierna and ERJHS Alumni Association, headed by president Jess Asistin, for maintaining a positive relationship aimed at promoting the school and the students themselves.
"Alumni are always the most loyal supporters of the school. They are like ambassadors, whose skills and experience can greatly help current students," said Sedilla.
Sedilla and Obierna also presented the "10 Most Outstanding Alumni" awards to Philippine Navy Commo. Albert Mogol of Batch 78 (military service), Monchie's Lechon owner-manager Ramon Ferreros (Batch 73, business), Tany Joe "TJ" Calalay (Batch 95, public service), Sct. Roberto Castor and Castor family (scouting), Connie and Precy Lorenzo (education), Jess Asistin (Batch 76, alumni affairs), People's Tonight Sports Editor Ed Andaya (Batch 81, journalism), Eric David (Batch 72, community service), Philippine National Police LtCol. Mike Gomez (Batch 88, public service) and former Bureau of Fire Protection chief general Enrique Linsangan (Batch 69, public service).
The recognition ceremony, which was also supported by ISkin Aesthetic Lifestyle, came only two weeks after ERJHS was chosen as the 10th top performing school in English during the Division Secondary Schools Press Conference held at Quirino High School.
Other activities included the Alumni Retro Night that featured live performances by the Righteous Act Band led by Jay Tuangco (Batch 87); the ERJHS Alumni Sports Club 3x3 basketball tournament; Batch 76 Zumba event; and song and dance presentations of participating batches.
ERJHS students also joined the festivities with presentations by the award-winning Kalinangan Dancers under Dante Ballesteros and Chorale Group, and various field demonstrations.
The event is also part of ERJHS' preparations for its coming diamond anniversary celebrations in February 2027.
