Cavite City lights up city entrance

CAVITE CITY: The city government here has completed a lighting project in Barangay 8 in response to a clamor for safety in the area.

Mayor Denver Chua, Vice Mayor Raleigh Rusit and city councilors attended a simple ceremony on Monday night, February 19, for the formal launch of the solar-powered lamps covering an 800-meter stretch from the boundary of Noveleta town to the city's Welcome Arch, better known as "Checkpoint."

The 82 solar-powered lamps in Phase 1 are just the beginning of a bigger project to ensure safety of motorists in preparations for the opening of Sangley Airport.

"Before, as you enter Cavite City, it was dark. Now, it's bright," said Mayor Chua.

The mayor added the project was meant for the benefit of students of Cavite State University who have night classes.

The lamp posts, the mayor said, are to ensure the safety in the area where a number of vehicular accidents had been reported owing to its darkness.
