San Beda upsets defending champ Letran in NCAA juniors basketball

MANILA, Philippines: San Beda University snatched its first win against the Colegio de San Juan de Letran in five years with an 88-72 triumph in the NCAA Season 99 juniors basketball tournament at the FilOil EcoOil Centre in San Juan on Friday, February 16, 2024.

This is the first time San Beda defeated Letran since 2019.

Red Cub Kirk Cañete scored 24 points behind five three-pointers to lead San Beda.

Randalie Medroso, and Hendric Valioces added 19 and 15 points, respectively.

Moses Manalili led the Squires with 18 points, six assists, three rebounds, and three steals.

Earlier, the San Sebastian College of Recoletos annihilated the Lyceum of the Philippines University by 39 points, 101-62.

University of Perpetual Help System Dalta, meanwhile, pulled off back-to-back wins after taking down Emilio Aguinaldo College, 93-85.
