BATAAN 1st District Rep. Geraldine Roman said the proposed economic Charter change (Cha-cha) would be "good as dead" if delivered only by October.
Resolution of Both Houses (RBH) 6 is pending in the Senate.
Bataan 1st District Rep. Geraldine RomanRoman said at a press conference on Wednesday that if it is "only delivered by October, it's as good as dead because" the filing of certificates of candidacy for the 2025 midterm elections will start in October.
"Wala nang tututok diyan and, understandably, all those who are running for the midterm elections will not be focusing on that very important issue," the lawmaker said.
The Senate started its deliberations on RBH 6 last week.
RBH 6 seeks to add the words "unless otherwise provided by law" to certain provisions of the 1987 Constitution through a separate House and Senate vote of three-fourths of the membership of each chamber.
RBH 6 was filed by Senate President Juan Miguel Zubiri, Sen. Loren Legarda, and Sen. Juan Edgardo "Sonny" Angara.
The House has expressed willingness to adopt the Senate version of economic Cha-cha.
