3 weather systems to bring rains in PH

THREE weather systems are expected to bring scattered rains and cloudy skies in the country, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said on Saturday.

Pagasa said that the low pressure area (LPA) being monitored outside the Philippine area of responsibility was last spotted 455 kilometers southwest of Zamboanga City.

"While it is not expected to turn into a tropical cyclone over the next 24 hours, its extension or trough may bring scattered rains and thunderstorms, especially in areas of Southern Mindanao," said weather specialist Daniel James Villamil.

Apart from the LPA, the weather agency is also monitoring cloud clusters which are slowly moving westward due to easterlies — or the hot wind coming from the Pacific Ocean.

These cloud clusters are expected to move closer to the country within the day and may also bring scattered rains and thunderstorms in the Visayas and Mindanao.

Meanwhile, Pagasa added that the northeast monsoon or amihan may also bring cloudy skies with light rains in the eastern section of Luzon.

Metro Manila and the rest of the country may expect fair weather conditions for the rest of the day, but also with chances of light rains and thunderstorms due to amihan.
