THE Commission on Higher Education (CHEd) invited all accredited higher education institutions (HEIs) to send coaches of different sports for short-term scholarship training at the National University Sports Academy (NUSA) under its Continuing Professional Development Studies Grant (CPDSG).
This is to enhance the competencies of HEI coaches through an integrated approach to Sports Science and Sports Management, CHEd said on its official Facebook page on Monday, January 22, emphasizing that the deadline for submission of documentary requirements is extended to Jan. 31, 2024.
"The Commission on Higher Education (CHEd) invites all presidents and officers-in-charge of public and private CHEd-recognized higher education institutions (HEIs) to nominate a maximum of three coaches employed in your institution to pursue a short-term study on 'Tertiary Coaching Education and Development: A Ladderized Sports Skills and Training Program' offered by the National University Sports Academy (NUSA) under CHEd's Continuing Professional Development Studies Grant (CPDSG)," the commission said."The 20-day short-term program seeks to enhance the competencies of HEI coaches through an integrated approach to Sports Science, Sports Management, and specific training on basketball, volleyball, dance sport, karate-do, taekwondo, table tennis, tennis, swimming, badminton, e-sports, archery, chess, football and arnis," it said.
The tentative schedule of classes is from Feb. 1 to 20, 2024, and will be conducted in full face-to-face mode in NUSA, Calamba, Laguna.
CHEd said the evaluation of eligibility will be on a first-come, first-served basis, as there is a limited number of students who may be accommodated.
The scholarship covers program fees, use of sports facilities, accommodation in campus, meal expenses, stipend/allowance amounting to P8,800, and travel expenses, including roundtrip airfare and local shuttle services.
"Scholars are required to render Return Service obligation to their respective Sending Higher Education Institutions (SHEIs)," CHEd said, stressing that interested applicants must be nominated by their SHEIs with complete documentary requirements.
