ACEN completes purchase of US wind plant

ACEN Corp. has finalized a purchase agreement with EDF Renewables North America for a wind farm in the US state of Pennsylvania through joint venture firm UPC Power.

"UPC Power Solutions announced today the completion of its purchase agreement with EDF Renewables North America," ACEN Corp. said in a disclosure on Wednesday.

"The closing of this agreement involves the purchase of the lessee interests in the 38-megawatt (MW) Chestnut Flats Wind (in operation) wind farm located near Altoona, Pennsylvania," it added.

The Ayala-led energy firm said that EDF Renewables North America would continue to provide asset management, operations and maintenance services.

"The addition of this renewable asset in our portfolio will support our long-term strategy to build a diversified fleet of operating wind projects," UPC Power CEO Officer Tim Rosenzweig said.

"Our investment in Chestnut Flats will create economic opportunity and maintain jobs in the local community," he added.

With the acquisition, UPC Power's portfolio was said to have grown to over 170 MW of renewable power generation across several US states.

The Chestnut Flats Wind project, located in Logan Township, Blair County, northwest of Altoona, Pennsylvania, utilizes 18 G90 and one G87 Gamesa wind turbines with a rated capacity of 2 MW.

The project was acquired by EDF Renewables North America in November 2011.

ACEN Corp.'s share price rose by 4 centavos to P4.18 on Wednesday.
