Strong Group stays perfect, routs Sports Club Beirut

MANILA, Philippines: A well-rested Strong Group Athletics leaned on a strong first-half offensive to hammer Sports Club Beirut, 95-73 for its fourth straight win in the 33rd Dubai International Basketball Championship early Wednesday morning at the Al Nasr Club in UAE.

Kevin Quiambao returned from a two-day respite by firing 20 points, lacing his game with four triples, while McKenzie Moore added 19, eight assists and five assists for the Philippine club team, which zoomed to a 58-40 halftime lead and never looked back.

Jordan Heading scored 15, while guard JD Cagulangan 12 and six assists, before leaving the game prematurely due to an ankle sprain. Forrmer NBA star Dwight Howard had 11 points and nine rebounds in a balanced scoring attack for SGA.

Sergio El Darwich led Sports Club Beirut with 28 points, Mohamed Haidar added 15 while Dar Tucker had 14.

Strong Group looks to sweep the group stage when it faces Al Ahli Tripoli from Libya in. Battle of undefeated teams in Group B (1:15 am Manila time).
