Quiboloy subpoenaed for skipping Senate probe on human trafficking, sexual abuses

Televangelist Apollo Quiboloy was subpoenaed by the Senate committee on women, children, family relations, and gender equality after he failed to appear at the Senate inquiry regarding alleged human trafficking and sexual abuse within his religious organization, Kingdom of Jesus Christ (KoJC). Senator Risa Hontiveros issued the subpoena and criticized Quiboloy for his absence, stating that he should have appeared as he is not exempt from the authority of the state. During the hearing, five former members of KoJC, including two Ukrainian women, testified about experiencing sexual abuse and coercion from Quiboloy. The investigation stems from accusations against KoJC, with Quiboloy facing charges related to sex trafficking and labor trafficking, as alleged by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) in the United States.
