MANILA, Philippines: The Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) sold P265 million worth of tickets on Tuesday, the highest in a single day in five years.
The record amount was reached five years ago when the agency's prize pot hit P1.18 billion.
Previously, the agency breached the million-peso sales mark in the period of November 1 to 14, 2023, with ticket sales reaching P104.87 million on November 14.
"Lotto sales started to increase since the launch of the PCSO's 'Handog Pakabog' Christmas draws last December 16 after the agency raised the minimum guaranteed prize of Grand Lotto 6/55, UltraLotto 6/58 and, later on, SuperLotto 6/49 to P500-million each," the agency said. "The PCSO also raised the jackpot of Lotto 6/42 and Mega Lotto 6/45 to P100-million each towards the end of 2023."
A lone bettor won P640,654,817.60 on Tuesday night's Super Lotto 6/49 draw.
PCSO General Manager Melquiades Robles said the sales would not be possible without the trust and loyalty of the public.
