Audi unveils the Q8 e-tron Edition Dakar

AUDI has introduced the Q8 e-tron Edition Dakar, an SUV that seamlessly blends off-road capability with a striking design inspired by the iconic RS Q e-tron from the Dakar Rally. This special edition SUV is tailor-made for adventurous individuals who seek the thrill of off-road excursions, all while embracing electric mobility. The Q8 e-tron Edition Dakar is set to be available for order in the first quarter of 2024.

Optimized off-road capabilities

The Q8 e-tron Edition Dakar stands out with a raised chassis, contributing to a 31-millimeter increase in ground clearance. This enhancement is coupled with off-road-ready General Grabber AT3 all-terrain tires, designed to deliver superior acceleration and braking performance on loose surfaces like gravel or snow. The SUV's instant torque and high-powered electric drivetrain make it a perfect companion for those seeking electric-powered adventures off the beaten path.

Performance and range

Based on the Q8 advanced 55 e-tron quattro, the Q8 e-tron Edition Dakar boasts a net battery size of 106 kilowatt-hours (kWh) (gross: 114 kWh) and a quattro drivetrain with two motors, providing 300 kW in boost mode and a torque of 664 Nm. The SUV accelerates from 0 to 100 kph (62 mph) in 5.8 seconds with standard tires and 5.9 seconds with General Grabber AT3 all-terrain tires. With a WLTP range of up to 487 kilometers (km) and a limited top speed of 200 kph (124 mph), the Q8 e-tron Edition Dakar combines high-performance electric driving with impressive range.

Distinctive design and limited decal package

Available in Siam Beige metallic, Mythos Black metallic and Magnetic Gray, the exterior of the Q8 e-tron Edition Dakar exudes confidence. The Singleframe, always in body color, is accentuated by optional projection lights, creating a visual connection between the headlights. LED lights project the words "edition Dakar" onto the street when the driver's door is opened. Optional decals inspired by the RS Q e-tron are available, limited to 99 units, with each showcasing a unique serial number on the D-pillar.

Luxurious interior and standard equipment

Inside, the Q8 e-tron Edition Dakar boasts a range of standard features, including Matrix LED headlights and taillights, tinted sun visors, and the S line interior. The latter includes deeply contoured sports seats, a multifunction sport leather steering wheel, stainless steel pedals and a comfort center armrest. The multi-media interface (MMI) operating system displays the vehicle's tilt angle, and Audi offers exclusive theme worlds on the MMI display, showcasing scenes like desert thunderstorms and tire tracks.

Practicality and comfort

The special edition model comes equipped with Matrix LED headlights and taillights, tinted sun visors, and a roof rack with a load capacity of 40 kilograms (88 pounds). A second charging socket supports high-voltage battery charging using the Combined Charging System Type 2 (CCS2). The Q8 e-tron Edition Dakar is delivered with General Grabber AT3 all-terrain tires for exceptional off-road resilience.

Luxury and innovation

Optional features include the ambient light package plus, offering up to 30 colors for interior contour lights, and a Bang & Olufsen Premium Sound System with 3D sound. Virtual side mirrors with cameras reduce the vehicle's overall width by 15 centimeters, enhancing aerodynamics and providing improved visibility in challenging off-road conditions.

Audi's Q8 e-tron Edition Dakar is a testament to the brand's commitment to pushing the boundaries of electric mobility, delivering a vehicle that seamlessly combines off-road prowess with cutting-edge design and technology.

The Audi's Q8 e-tron Edition Dakar is priced starting at approximately $132,000 in Germany.
