Davao-Samal Bridge remains a ‘go’ project

The Davao-Samal Bridge project, also known as the Samal Island-Davao City Connector (SIDC), remains on track despite legal challenges related to property and road rights. Arturo Milan, RDC-Davao co-chair, and Neda Board Member for Regional Development assured that the project is moving forward, with the Department of Public Works and Highways-Davao Region (DPWH-Davao) already conducting soil tests in the Davao area where the bridge will be situated. Presidential Assistant for Eastern Mindanao Secretary Leo Tesoro also confirmed that the project will proceed, with the support of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. The project, a crucial part of the Davao Regional Development Plan (DRDP) for 2023-2028, aims to boost economic development in the region. The four-lane, 3.98-kilometer bridge is estimated to cost P23.04 billion and will be toll-free, funded through China’s Official Development Assistance, with a target completion date set for 2027. The bridge will connect Samal Circumferential Road in Barangay Limao, Island Garden City of Samal, and Davao City between the R. Castillo and the Daang Maharlika junction. Despite setbacks, stakeholders are determined to overcome obstacles and ensure the success of this vital infrastructure project. Read The Rest at :
