Newly-launched 'Pusa Gaurav' wheat variety suitable for making chapatis and pasta

India's newly-launched Durum wheat variety, Pusa Gehun Gaurav, offers versatile benefits, from making soft chapatis to high-quality pasta. Developed by Dr. Jung Bahadur Singh at IARI’s Indore-based regional station, this climate-resilient and bio-fortified variety is designed to thrive under low irrigation and high temperatures. With a protein content of 12% and high levels of iron and zinc, Pusa Gaurav meets both desi and international culinary demands. Its introduction is part of a broader initiative, with 109 crop varieties recently dedicated to the nation by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
