The Indian government has requested parliamentary approval for an additional net expenditure of ₹78,673 crore in the second batch of supplementary demands for grants for 2023-24. Despite this, the government expects to reduce its fiscal deficit to 5.8% of gross domestic product, bettering the 5.9% budgeted goal.
