The Indian Railways has responded to recent reports of overcrowding by adding 92 general category coaches to 46 long-distance trains. In a statement, the ministry announced plans to expand this initiative to 22 more trains. The additional coaches aim to alleviate congestion and improve passenger comfort on routes including the Guwahati-Bikaner, Guwahati-Barmer, Guwahati-Lokmanya Tilak, Guwahati-Jammu Tawi, Mumbai-Bengaluru Udayan, and Mumbai-Amravati Superfast Express services among others.
