Heavy rains throw Mumbai air traffic out of gear

Heavy monsoon rains in Mumbai caused significant disruption to transportation, affecting roads, railways, and air travel. Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA) experienced major disruptions, with 27 flights diverted and over 50 flights canceled. The rainfall and low visibility led to runway operations being suspended from 2:22 am to 3:40 am on Monday, August 7, 2024. CSMIA is working to manage the diverted flights and advised passengers to check their flight status early via airline websites or apps due to ongoing weather-related delays.
