Coal India Ltd's contribution to the government's exchequer decreased by 2.2% to Rs 9,560.28 crore in April-May of the current fiscal year, down from Rs 9,777.64 crore in the previous year. Total levies paid to the government in May rose to Rs 4,763.20 crore.
