The government has increased the windfall tax on domestically produced crude oil to Rs 6,800 per tonne from Rs 4,900 per tonne, effective from April 4. This tax, implemented as Special Additional Excise Duty (SAED), aims to regulate the petroleum industry and ensure the prioritization of domestic fuel over exports.
