Power and renewable energy minister RK Singh announced that the power sector is set to receive an investment of approximately ₹17 lakh crore over the next 5-7 years. This investment surge comes after witnessing ₹20 lakh crore of investment in the past nine years. The sector has added 190 GW of power generation capacity in the last decade, reaching around 436 GW. Singh emphasized the need for continuous capacity additions across all segments.
