Air India fined Rs 30 lakh by DGCA over death of 80-year flyer after not being given a wheelchair

The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has fined Air India Rs 30 lakh following the death of an 80-year-old passenger who walked from the aircraft to the terminal due to a shortage of wheelchairs. The incident, which occurred on February 12, prompted the DGCA to issue a notice to Air India for violating regulations on the carriage of persons with disabilities. Air India's response to the notice, submitted on February 20, failed to demonstrate compliance with regulations, leading to the imposition of the fine.
