India rebuilds coal stocks to ensure electric reliability: Kemp

India's electricity supply in 2024 is more comfortable due to increased coal production and a significant deployment of renewables. Coal inventories have recovered, with record volumes of coal being dug and dispatched to generators. Power plants now have plentiful stocks of coal, minimizing the risk of blackouts. Generators are storing 38 million tonnes of coal on site, up from previous years. The comfortable fuel situation is a result of increased coal production and prioritized coal deliveries. The expansion of renewable generation has also relieved some pressure on coal supplies.
