Biodiversity is the 'new' oil, protect it

Representatives from 180 countries attended the UN COP16 Biodiversity Summit in Cali, Colombia. They discussed the mobilization and distribution of $200 billion annually by 2030 but left key issues unresolved. Agreements were reached on payments for genetic resources and the creation of a permanent indigenous advisory body. The issue of establishing a new fund will be revisited next year.
