The era of waiting in bank queues to update passbooks is ending, and soon debit card swipes at merchant outlets may follow. Technological advancements, particularly QR code-driven payment options by NPCI, are making debit cards obsolete. UPI payments, often free, are more convenient and cost-effective for both banks and customers.
