View: Holding a gun to America's head?

The Second Amendment to the US Constitution grants citizens the right to keep and bear arms, which is a contentious and controversial right. The amendment was enshrined in the British Bill of Rights of 1689, which allowed citizens to bear arms for self-defense and act in concert with official forces in defense of the realm. However, the American amendment also allowed for the creation of a 'well-regulated militia' for 'the security of a free state'.
