In Nagaland, polling commenced peacefully for elections to 25 civic bodies, including three municipalities and 22 town councils, marking a historic event after a 20-year hiatus. These urban local body elections, featuring a significant 33% reservation for women, were long delayed due to objections from tribal bodies and civil society regarding reservations and property taxes.
