Around 200 members of the Sikh community staged a demonstration in Kolkata to show support for an IPS officer who alleged that a West Bengal BJP leader called him a 'Khalistani'. The BJP leaders denied the allegations, stating that no one had used that term. The IPS officer questioned the use of the term, stating that it was unfair to label someone a 'Khalistani' based on their religious attire.
