Barangay Ginebra signs Troy Rosario

MANILA, Philippines — Troy Rosario is now an official member of Barangay Ginebra.

More than a month after exploring free agency, the hard working former National U standout decided to sign up with the Gin Kings, thus providing a reliable inside presence and outside gunner for coach Tim Cone.

"Dreams Do Come True. Thank you Boss Alfrancis Chua," the 6-foot-6 Rosario wrote in his Facebook account on Monday, the same day the PBA released the official roster for the Commissioner's Cup where his name is included in the Ginebra lineup.

The mid-season conference kicks off on Wednesday at the Philsports Arena in Pasig.

Rosario turned down a multi-year extension deal with Blackwater, after the Bossing nearly reached the playoffs in the Season 49 Governors' Cup behind prolific import George King.

Playing healthy this season, the 6-foot-6 Rosario averaged 13.5 points, 6.0 rebounds and 1.4 assists for the Bossing in the season-opening conference.

The former Gilas Pilipinas big man went on to explore free agency.

While Converge and TNT fielded their respective offers, in the end, it was Ginebra that won the heart of the 32-year-old Rosario.

Rosario easily plugs in the hole inside for Ginebra, especially since the team lost Isaac Go to injury early in the Governors' Cup elimination round.

Filipino-American wingman Jamie Malonzo is still recovering as well from a calf injury he suffered in last season's Philippine Cup.

The Gin Kings, who finished runners-up in the Governors' Cup behind Rosario's former squad TNT Tropang Giga, are easily the titles favorites, who will try to knock the crown off the defending champions San Miguel Beermen.
