MANILA, Philippines – The intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ) and the northeast monsoon or amihan will prevail in most parts of the country, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said Sunday.
Weather specialist Grace Castañeda said the ITCZ - an imaginary line where the air from the northern and southern hemisphere meet - was particularly affecting Caraga and Davao region where scattered rains and thunderstorms would prevail.
The same weather system would affect the rest of Mindanao where partly cloudy to overcast skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms would be likely.
Meanwhile, Batanes and Cagayan will have cloudy skies with rains due to the northeast monsoon.
Metro Manila and the rest of the country will have isolated downpours or thunderstorms particularly in late afternoon or at night, Pagasa said.
