MANILA, Philippines — The death toll from Severe Tropical Storm "Kristine" rose to 81, with 66 injured and 34 missing, according to data released by the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) on Saturday.
The number includes those that have been reported but are not yet reflected in the updated NDRRMC Situational Report or have not yet been validated.
The deaths include 47 in the province of Batangas and 28 in the Bicol region.
Four storm-related deaths were also recorded in different areas in the central and southern Luzon.
Meanwhile, the NDRRMC said a total of 24,988 persons from Ilocos Region, Cagayan Valley, Central Luzon, MIMAROPA, Eastern Visayas, Zamboanga Peninsula and CARAGA were pre-emptively evacuated.
The storm affected a total of 986,974 families, or 4,207,387 individuals, from across 16 regions, 69 provinces, 657 cities or municipalities and 5,867 villages.
The NDRRMC also reported that a total of 8,432 houses and 98 infrastructure were damaged due to the effects of Kristine with an estimated cost of P203.83 million.
The estimated cost of damage to agriculture, on the other hand, was pegged at P87.53 million.
A total of 83 cities and municipalities were declared under a state of calamity due to damage brought by the storm.
