MANILA, Philippines — Magdalo on Wednesday filed its certification of nomination and acceptance for party-list in the 2025 national and local elections.

Its first nominee is Gary Alejano, who also ran for the Senate in 2019. He was accompanied by former senator Antonio Trillanes IV, who is running for mayor of Caloocan City.

Alejano said in his remarks that in the 16th to 18th Congresses, it was among the most productive party-lists.

"The Magdalo Party-list filed its certificate of nomination and acceptance and we are happy that we are given another chance to serve our nation. We know that the Magdalo Party-list represents former and retired members of our Armed Forces, including the urban poor and the youth," he said.

"We are proud to say that in the past Congresses, we were among the most productive party-lists when it came to the function of legislation, as well as the oversight function," Alejano added.

He also said that they were the only members in Congress to file an impeachment complaint against former president Rodrigo Duterte, as well as the only party-list that filed information before the International Criminal Court (ICC) for crimes against humanity of the previous administration.

Alejano said they want to have a strong stance in the West Philippine Sea.

He was previously Magdalo's representative from 2013 to 2019, having served two terms.
