Angeline Colonia of the Philippines bagged two gold medals and one silver medal in the women's 45-kilogram division at the 2024 International Weightlifting Federation (IWF) World Junior Championships in Leon, Spain on Thursday. Colonia began her campaign in the snatch with a successful lift of 74 kilograms, giving her the gold medal in the event. She, however, settled for the silver in the clean and jerk after clearing 88 kilograms. Ioana Miron of Romania's best lift was also 88 kilograms but was given the gold as she made it in fewer attempts. The young lifter from Zamboanga City, however, captured the gold overall as she tallied 162 kilograms for the two events. The overall silver went to Khemika Kamnoedsri of Thailand (160 kgs) and the bronze was won by Miron (154 kgs). Also watching the event was fellow Zamboanga native and Olympic weightlifting champion Hidilyn Diaz, who shared Colonia's conquest on her Facebook page. Other Filipinos taking part in the tournament include Zamboanga natives Rosegie Ramos, Jhodie Peralta, Rosalinda Faustino and Albert Ian De los Santos, along with Lovely Inan, Keil Delos Santos and Eron Borres.
