BAGUIO CITY — The city council passed Resolution 538, series of 2024, granting Mayor Benjamin Magalong authority to represent the city government to enter into a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the province of La Union for a collaborative partnership on tourism marketing and promotions. La Union is represented by Gov. Raphaelle Veronica Ortega-David. In his letter dated August 2, this year, city administrator Bonifacio de la Peña requested authorization for the mayor to enter into the said MoU in light of shared interest of Baguio and La Union in cultivating a partnership for mutual benefit in the fields of tourism, culture and arts. Under the collaboration, Baguio and La Union are to exchange their best practices for the promotion of local tourism attractions and products. The measure stated that the partnership introduced new tourism markets and connections to both local government units. The city council's committee on laws, human rights and justice, in its 3rd indorsement on August 15, recommended the approval of the said request to enter into an MoU with La Union. The MoU will be submitted to the city council for confirmation.
