MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) on Saturday said that Severe Tropical Storm "Shanshan" remained outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) and was located 2,055 kilometers east of Central Luzon, heading northward at 15 km per hour (kph).
Should the storm enter the PAR, it is expected to be named "Enteng."
Meanwhile, the weather bureau said a southwest monsoon that was not related to the tropical cyclone is affecting the western sections of Southern Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao.
Pagasa said in its early morning bulletin that Mimaropa, Western Visayas, Negros Island Region, Zamboanga Peninsula, Basilan, Sulu, and Tawi-Tawi were expected to have cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms caused by the monsoon.
Metro Manila and the rest of the country, on the other hand, will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms, as a result of localized thunderstorms.
The temperature range is expected at 25.5 to 34.2 degrees Celsius, while relative humidity is at 56 to 91 percent.
