A FORMER official of the Kingdom of Jesus Christ (KoJC) claimed that the recent raid conducted by agents of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) on a compound where evangelist Apollo Quiboloy is believed to be hiding was staged.
The raid was carried out last Friday by a team from the NBI's Region 11 office, led by Regional Director Archie Albao.
Albao said the serving of three arrest warrants took an hour, but the operation was peaceful.
In an interview over a social media platform following the raid, Arlene Stone, a former KoJC official and key complainant in the case against Quiboloy, said that the raid was part of efforts to sabotage the case by some persons who remain loyal to Quiboloy.
Stone alleged that the regional director has close ties to Quiboloy and former president Rodrigo Duterte.
Police Regional Office 11 chief Gen. Nicanor Torre earlier said Quiboloy was inside the KoJC compound.
Quiboloy is wanted for child and sexual abuse and human trafficking.
NBI Director Jaime Santiago has been urged to investigate the raid Albao led.
Efforts by The Manila Times to reach out to the NBI for comment went unanswered.
