Weak 'habagat' affects Visayas, Mindanao

MOST parts of the country would likely experience generally fair weather all throughout the day while the 'weak' southwest monsoon locally known as 'habagat' is affecting the western sections of Visayas and Mindanao, the state weather bureau said on Friday.

Weather specialist Aldczar Aurelio said habagat has re-emerged but its effect was only minimal and only some areas in Visayas and Mindanao would be affected where scattered rain showers and thunderstorms would prevail.

He said the fair weather condition may be experienced until weekend in large parts of the archipelago.

"It's because we have not monitored any tropical cyclone or low pressure area forming or entering the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) in the coming days," the Pagasa forecaster said.

Earlier, the state-run weather agency said that two to three tropical cyclones would probably enter PAR within August.

Meanwhile, Metro Manila and the rest of the country would be experiencing partly cloudy to overcast skies with isolated downpours or thunderstorms due to the localized thunderstorms within 24 hours.
