WMSU mentor wins IREC best presenter award in NY

SHAMIR Kassim, PhD, a faculty member of Western Mindanao State University College of Teacher Education (WMSU-CTE), won the Best Presenter Award at the 4th International Research and Education Conference (IREC) held at Leonard's Palazzo, Great Neck, New York City from June 29, 2024 to July 6, 2024.

Kassim was recognized as one of the three Best Presenters, receiving the Roberto N. Padua Memorial Award for Excellence in one of the Parallel Sessions.

This year's IREC theme was "Trailblazing the Futures of Education Initiative: A Commitment to Renewed Perspective through Global Collaboration." It relates to the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (Unesco) "Reimagining Our Futures Together" platform for research and innovation.

IREC was organized by the Association of Filipino Teachers and Educators in America,

(AFTEA) Inc. and the Bicol State College of Applied Sciences and Technology (BISCAST).

It was participated by various Philippine private higher education institutions (HEIs), state universities and colleges (SUCs), local universities and colleges (LUCs), Department of Education (DepEd) Schools, New York Department of Education schools, and other institutions across the United States.

Kassim also received a plaque of commendation as a session moderator and an International Teaching Service Emerald Award for his dedication and service

to the teaching profession.

The WMSU mentor's participation in the New York conference was authorized by Board Resolution No. 56, Series of 2024.
