Bacoor City sets 25-player pool for MPVA

BACOOR CITY, Cavite — Maharlika Pilipinas Volleyball Association (MPVA) inaugural season champion Bacoor City selected 25 players to form its training pool for the upcoming season of the fledgling volleyball league.

More than 100 players joined the tryouts held last weekend at Strike Gym and Lady Strikers head coach Sandy Rieta picked a pool of 25 players from which the final lineup of the team will be taken.Among those who participated in the tryouts, Rieta said, are players from University of Perpetual Help, De La Salle University Dasma, National University Dasma, National University Mall of Asia and AIMS, among others.

Former varsity players of Perpetual Help and former professional volleyball players also participated the tryouts.

Rieta, however, did not disclose the names of the players in the pool.

The new MPVA season will begin on August 11.The Mayor Strike Revilla-backed Lady Strikers are aiming to defend their crown against Marikina, Nasipit, San Juan, Negros, Rizal, Bin̈an, Pasig, Caloocan and new teams Quezon Province Tangerines and Valenzuela Classy.
