(UPDATE) MASON Amos said he has notified the Ateneo Blue Eagles management about the offer he received from De La Salle Green Archers but admitted that he did not inform his mother team about his decision to accept the offer.

Amos, who averaged 8.87 points and 3.4 rebounds for Ateneo in the UAAP Season 86 last year, said that choosing La Salle over Ateneo is "a personal decision" for him and his family.

"It's been a tough week with a decision I made due to my reasons. However my actions were unacceptable and not called for," Amos wrote on X (Twitter) on Friday, clearly alluding to his surprising move from blue to green.

"Although I did mention the offer to the management, they weren't informed about my final decision as well as my teammates because I felt that it was a personal decision for me and my family."

The 6-foot-7 Amos acknowledged his insensitivity and apologized to the Ateneo community.

He said he does not expect the Blue Eagles to forgive him but hope that they can understand where he is coming from.

"However I will apologize for not being considerate. To my teammates, coaches, the community and the alumni I am sorry for my actions and I will own up to a mistake that could've been handled better," he wrote.

"I don't expect forgiveness but I just hope for understanding. I do love Ateneo and I wish all the best."

Amos is part of the Gilas Pilipinas team that made the semifinals of the FIBA Olympic Qualifying Tournament in Riga, Latvia.

The Philippines battles Brazil at 8:30 p.m. on Saturday (Manila time) for a chance to make the finals.
