SEN. Bong Go, a member of the Senate Committee on Basic Education, underscored the pivotal role of school principals in the educational ecosystem. He said principals were the guiding lights of their schools, leading teachers and the entire school community toward excellence.
"To all the principals here, I salute your unwavering effort and dedication. You are the true leaders of our schools, and despite the challenges and trials, you continue to ensure the delivery of quality education for our youth wholeheartedly. You serve as the foundation of our educational institutions, and your leadership inspires us all."
Go said in his keynote speech during the 41st Principals Training and Development Program Cum National Board Conference (PTDP-NBC) on Thursday in Puerto Princesa, Palawan.
The event, themed "Reskilling and Upskilling the School Heads on Matatag Agenda," saw the gathering of around 8,000 elementary school principals nationwide who also received tokens of appreciation from the senator.
The senator highlighted the immense responsibility principals bear in shaping the future of education in the Philippines and acknowledged the unique challenges school leaders face, especially during the Covid-19 pandemic."
The transition you went through from face-to-face to online and back to face-to-face, I understand the challenges you faced during that time, and it was undoubtedly difficult. Thank you for your service, and thank you for your patience," Go said.
The senator reaffirmed his commitment to the education sector and emphasized his belief in the youth as the cornerstone of future generations. "Investing in education is investing in our nation's future," he said.
"I believe that having access to quality education is a crucial key to change. This is why I continue to advocate for programs that ensure our education system is accessible, affordable, and equitable for everyone."
Among his notable contributions is the Republic Act (RA) 11984, or the No Permit, No Exam Prohibition Act, which he co-authored and co-sponsored.
This act ensures that students can take their exams regardless of financial constraints. The recently signed law RA 11997, or the Kabalikat sa Pagtuturo Act, which Go co-authored and co-sponsored, is a significant legislative measure to increase the teaching supply allowances for public school teachers.
