NICKEL Asia Corp. (Nickel Asia) said Friday its board of directors has elected Jose Isidro Camacho as director and chairman of the company, replacing Gerard Brimo, who has retired after more than 15 years of service.
The company also named James J.K. Hung as an independent director.
In a statement, the mining firm said that Camacho currently chairs SunLife Canada (Philippines) and the University of Arts Singapore. He also holds senior advisory and independent directorships in other companies.
He once held public office as Secretary of Energy in 2001, followed by a role as Secretary of Finance until 2003.
Camacho also served as managing director and vice chairman of Credit Suisse Asia Pacific from 2005 to 2022 and held senior positions at Deutsche Bank and Bankers Trust.
He holds a master's degree in finance from Harvard University.
Hung, meanwhile, is currently the chairman of Asia Securities Global Group (Hong Kong) and ASG Inspiration Lab (Singapore) and has held a number of prestigious positions in various financial institutions overseas. He also holds an MBA in finance from Babson College in Massachusetts.
Nickel Asia shares closed down 0.25 percent on Friday at P3.99 each.
