THE Muntinlupa City government will distribute free rubber shoes and school supplies to all public school students in the city, benefiting around 98,000 students from daycare to Grade 12.
"We are committed to supporting our students and ensuring they have the resources they need to succeed. By providing these high-quality sneakers and school supplies, we aim to ease the financial burden on families and boost student morale," said Mayor Rozzano Rufino Biazon.
The Balik Eskwela Package contains a school bag, notebooks, pencils or pens, pad paper, and a set of crayons.
Additionally, Kindergarten to Grade 6 students will also receive blue and white MUNwalk sneakers, while Grades 7 to 12 students will get black rubber shoes. Students in Child Development Centers will receive a school bag, notebooks, pencils, a set of crayons and a tumbler.
Last school year, the city government provided students with black leather shoes and school supplies.
Biazon explained that the switch to sneakers this year was made because many students still have usable leather shoes from last year, and parents requested rubber shoes that may be used for physical education classes.
Biazon stated that the city aims to distribute the free school supplies before the opening of classes on July 29.
