MORE than 111,000 beneficiaries in Zamboanga City are expected to receive cash and aid worth more than half a billion pesos as the Bagong Pilipinas Serbisyo Fair lands in the city over the weekend.
According to Speaker Martin Romualdez, the caravan will give direct government services to its citizens, which is what President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. wants for every Filipino.
"This is the very essence of inclusive development and responsive governance," said Romualdez.
More than 80 lawmakers joined the caravan hosted by House Majority Leader and Zamboanga City Rep. Manuel Jose Dalipe and his brother, City Mayor John Dalipe.
Zamboanga is the fifth Mindanao province to be visited by the BPSF after sorties in Bukidnon, Agusan del Norte, Sultan Kudarat and Davao de Oro. The caravan will be going to Tawi-Tawi and Davao del Norte in the coming weekend.
Of the P580 million to be given to Zamboanga City residents, P273 million will be given in the form of cash assistance, including P252 million which will be given to about 67,000 beneficiaries of the Department of Social Welfare and Development's Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situations (AICS) program.
About 355,000 kilos of rice will also be given to 10,000 beneficiaries under the Cash and Rice Distribution program, where beneficiaries will receive P2,000 under the AICS and P1,000 for 20 kilos of rice.
Other incentives will also be given during the service fair such as the Start-up, Incentives, Business Opportunity and Livelihood (Sibol) program, and the Integrated Scholarship and Incentives for the Youth (ISIP) program.
For the Sibol program, a total of 3,000 beneficiaries will receive P5,000 through the AICS as an aid for small entrepreneurs, while 3,000 students under the ISIP program will receive financial aid worth P2,000 and 5 kilos of rice also through the AICS.
