LISTED retailer MerryMart Consumer Corp. said Monday that it would be opening its biggest stand-alone, full-sized supermarket in Tarlac in July 2024.

The supermarket will rise on 4,032 square meters of prime land inside Ayala Land Inc.'s Cresendo Estate and feature a complete line of grocery, pharmacy, personal care, and other essential products, the firm told the stock exchange.

The property will be equipped with energy-serving features, including roof solar panels and LED lighting fixtures. It will also have bicycle slots and electric car charging provisions.

The firm has allocated resources to support its growth and continuously upgrade its technology infrastructure in line with efforts to optimize supply chain logistics, MerryMart Chairman Edgar "Injap" Sia II said in a statement.

"With a strong foundation in place, MerryMart will be better equipped to weather challenges and scale operations efficiently in the future," he added.

"We are making strategic decisions that prioritize long-term sustainability above all, laying the groundwork for the future success and growth of MerryMart to delight customers today as well as in the next [few] decades."

The company, which operates MerryMart Express, MerryMart Market, MerryMart Grocery, and MerryMart Wholesale, intends to expand its network to 1,200 branches nationwide by 2030 and aims to deliver P120 billion in systemwide recurring consumer sales.

MerryMart reported that net income dropped 29 percent to P408.2 million last year, from P573.99 million in 2022, despite an 18-percent improvement in revenues to P6.3 billion from P5.3 billion.

"We are glad that MerryMart has delivered revenue growth from its current business lines [that were] continuously gaining market share, and investing in the foundation of any business is like laying down sturdy roots for a mighty tree," Sia said.

On Monday, MerryMart's share price fell by a centavo to close at P0.82 apiece.
