P4.8-M shabu, party drugs seized from two suspects

OVER P4 mil-lion worth of assorted illegal drugs were confiscated by combined elements of the Angeles Police Drug Enforcement Unit and City Intelligence Unit of Angeles City Police Office from two individuals, including a Chinese national, during a buy-bust in Baran-gay Malabanias on Wednesday afternoon, April 24.

Angeles City Police Office city director Col. Amado Mendoza identified the two suspects as Leslie Sumabal Acunin, also known as Lexie, 19, single, resident of 9th Street, Barangay Lakandula, Mabalacat City, Pampanga; and Zhe Huang, 30, Chinese, single and currently residing at 801 Tower D Sea Residence MOA Complex, Pasay City.

Mendoza said 87 grams of shabu worth P591,600, two kilos of party drug ecstasy (blue) worth P4,000,000, chewable ecstasy (yellow) and 12 packs of ecstasy (orange) worth P24,000 were seized from the two suspects.

Mendoza added that the two suspects also yielded 14 packs of chewable ecstasy (orange) worth P28,000; 35 grams (7 packs) of ketamine (salt) worth P50,000, 35 grams (7 packs) of ketamine (crystal) worth P60,000, and one box of liquid marijuana vape worth P54,000.

The assorted illegal drugs have a total street value of P4,807,600.

The two suspects were arrested at the ABC Hotel parking lot along Don Juico Avenue, Barangay Malabanias, Angeles City. The two suspects and the evidence were brought to Police Station 4 for proper disposition.

Angeles City Mayor Carmelo Lazatin Jr. has commended the Angeles City Police Office led by Mendoza for the arrest of the two suspects and the confiscation of illegal drugs.

From Day One in office, Mayor Lazatin has vowed to eradicate illegal drugs in the city in a bid to have a safe, peaceful and productive city wherein he also directed a drug test on all City Hall employees every year.

"We aim for a drug-free workplace, and by assuring this, we will continue to conduct anti-drug efforts to reduce if not eliminate the demand of illegal drugs," the mayor said.

All Angeles City Hall workers had been subjected to a series of surprise drug testing where those tested positive for drug use had been sent for rehabilitation.

Lazatin has also recently subjected all 33 barangay captains, 231 councilors, 33 Sangguniang Kabataan chairmen and 231 SK councilors to mandatory drug testing.

The members of the public transport, particularly drivers, had been subjected to drug testing to ensure safety and security of commuters in Angeles City.

According to Mayor Lazatin, the program against illegal drug use highlights his administration's commitment to preserving public safety.
