Gadon to VP Sara: Reconcile with Marcos

PRESIDENTIAL Adviser on Poverty Larry Gadon on Sunday urged Vice President Sara Duterte to reexamine her position with the administration of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. amid her feud with first lady Liza Araneta-Marcos.

"Reexamine and reconcile with the direction and advocacy of the administration. It's not too late to reconcile," Gadon said in an interview with The Manila Times via Viber.

In an interview last week, Mrs. Marcos revealed that her relationship with the vice president had deteriorated after former president Rodrigo Duterte began to badmouth the President. She said Duterte laughed when her father accused his successor of being a drug addict.

Gadon said he and Duterte "campaigned together, and we have a common goal for the country. It's not too late to be united."

He said he understood how Mrs. Marcos felt toward the vice president.

"The turn of events extremely hurt her," he said.

He said the "peace rally," which was attended by Duterte supporters and the vice president herself, was more like a destabilization move.

"Where can you find a peace, prayer rally where everyone was saying bad things about the national leader, the president at that?" Gadon said.

Duterte "should be one with the President in facing the challenges of our country," he said.

He said he believed the vice president could have been swayed by people around her, "which is why she showed up during those rallies."
