Gorayeb wants to ignite passion of Capital 1 players

MANILA, Philippines: No excuses for coach Roger Gorayeb.

In their game debut in the Premier Volleyball League (PVL), Capital 1 Solar Spikers suffered a 25-6, 25-15, 25-15 loss against the Chery Tiggo Crossovers in the PVL 2024 All-Filipino Conference.

Gorayeb said that this is no longer about the so-called first game jitters—but instead, this is about the drive and passion of his players.

"I want them to have the passion to win, not just to participate. I want to tap their passion in volleyball again," Gorayeb said after the game.

"I told them to prove to your previous team who did not sign you. Prove something to them."

Still, Gorayeb also acknowledged the three weeks of preparation might not be enough, but they cannot make this as an excuse for their first game performance.

"Yes we are a new team, but they used to be pro players. I want them to fight, even though we lose as long as they fight. Their experience as a volleyball player that's what I am looking for."

Capital 1 is composed of ex-pro players and free agents, Gorayeb said that this game can be a wake up call to them.

"Hopefully into our next games, we can bounce back, and we need to awaken their passion."

Capital 1 will try to unleash their potential into their game against the Farm Fresh Foxies on Thursday, February 29, at 4:00 p.m., at the Phil Sports Arena.
