MANILA, Philippines: At least 2,212 persons were displaced after torrential rains swamped fourteen villages in three provinces in Davao region Tuesday due to a shear line or where the hot and cold air converge.
In a report, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) said floods were high in nine areas in Davao de Oro and two in Davao del Norte.
The massive flooding was precipitated by a shear line in Davao although no casualties were reported.
The heavy rains also triggered landslides in Daang Maharlika, Monkayo, and Purok 10, Barangay Camanlangan, New Bataan, both in Dave de Oro, and Maragusan town, leaving all roads unpassable to all types of vehicles.
Although the heavy rains have started to weaken, evacuees remained in shelters due to intermittent rains.
