Gad Partok was 10 years old in 1942 when Nazis stormed his street in the coastal Tunisian town of Nabeul. He witnessed them going door to door, dragging out his neighbors, shooting them, and setting their homes on fire. Like many Jews who relocated to Israel after the war, Partok hoped Israel would offer a refuge from persecution.
